 Hunting Lila by Sarah Alderson

Pages: 306, paperback
Release Date: August 5th 2011 by Simon and Schuster UK

The Plot:

17-year-old Lila has two secrets she’s prepared to take to the grave. The first is that she can move things just by looking at them. The second is that she’s been in love with her brother’s best friend, Alex, since forever.

After a mugging exposes her unique ability, Lila decides to run to the only people she can trust—her brother and Alex. They live in Southern California where they work for a secret organisation called The Unit, and Lila discovers that the two of them are hunting down the men who murdered her mother five years before. And that they’ve found them.

In a world where nothing and no one is quite as they seem, Lila quickly realises that she is not alone—there are others out there just like her—people with special powers—and her mother’s killer is one of them…

My Review:

5 stars for this one!

The story started out with Lila's mugging, and it was quite obvious that she herself was terrified of what she can do. At first it was unclear to me as to what the real role of her father was, and I wanted to find out more about it later on. But I did not, so maybe it's in the next book or something.

Lila was the perfect heroine, and she was very realistic. I loved her daydreaming scenes, it made her sound real and girly. I also liked the fact that she hadn't really fallen in love with another guy since Alex, because for one I love characters who only stick to one guy.

Jack was a supportive brother and I actually love him for it. He was this strong, badass brother who cares deeply for his sister. It will make you jealous because Lila has an older brother like him.

Alex....he's delicious. I can't describe him any other way. I kept on swooning throughout the book because every scene that involves him only makes me want him even more. And I'm pretty sure he will have the same effect on you.

I adore the way their romance rolled out, not the insta-love thing or the cliched ones. Overall the plot was original and all the characters were realistic (except for the superpower part). Lastly, you will love the twist of this story.

I highly recommend you guys to go out right now and buy this book!
